Entstehung und Frühe Jahre

Die Anfänge der Black Eyed Peas gehen auf das Jahr 1989 zurück, als will.i.am, apl.de.ap und Dante Santiago als Atban Klann ihre ersten musikalischen Schritte unternahmen. Nach einigen Änderungen in der Besetzung wurde 1995 die Band als The Black Eyed Peas mit neuen Mitgliedern Taboo und Sängerin Kim Hill neu gegründet. Durchbruch und Erfolge

2003 brachte die Veröffentlichung des Albums „Elephunk“ in der Bandbesetzung mit Fergie den weltweiten Durchbruch. Der Song „Where Is the Love?“ wurde ein Mega-Erfolg und machte sie international bekannt. Das Album verkaufte sich über sieben Millionen Mal. Auch das nächste Album „Monkey Business“ (2005) war überaus erfolgreich und enthielt weitere Chart-Hits wie „Don’t Phunk with My Heart“ und „My Humps“. Diese Songs füllten nicht nur die Charts, sondern waren auch häufig in Webradio und Online Radio Playlists weltweit zu hören.

Veränderungen und aktuelle Projekte

Nach Fergies Austritt im Jahr 2017 entschieden sich The Black Eyed Peas, wieder als Trio ihre musikalischen Wurzeln im Hip-Hop zu erkunden. Sie veröffentlichten „Masters of the Sun Vol. 1“ im Jahr 2018 und demonstrierten ihr Engagement für soziale Themen. J. Rey Soul, die neue Stimme der Band, verstärkte die Gruppe bei Live-Auftritten und im Tonstudio. Ein bemerkenswerter Auftritt war der Silvesterauftritt 2022/23 in Polen, bei dem sie Regenbogen-Armbinden trugen, um Unterstützung für die LGBT-Community zu zeigen.
