Michael Patrick Kelly, einst als Paddy Kelly von The Kelly Family bekannt, hat sich als Solo-Künstler etabliert und ist weiterhin aktiv in der Musikszene präsent. Nach seiner Zeit im Kloster ist er nun nicht nur musikalisch erfolgreich, sondern engagiert sich auch für soziale Projekte. Sein Weg vom Teenie-Idol zum facettenreichen Musiker inspiriert Fans weltweit.

Erst Solo-Karriere, dann Kloster

Michael Patrick Kelly, geboren 1977 in Dublin, wurde in den 1990er Jahren mit The Kelly Family bekannt. Bereits als Jugendlicher schrieb er den Hit „An Angel“. 2003 begann seine Solokarriere mit dem Album „In Exile„, das Platz 13 in Deutschland erreichte. Doch statt Ruhm suchte Kelly spirituellen Frieden und lebte ab 2004 als Mönch in einem französischen Kloster. Diese Jahre beschreibt er als eine besonders prägende Phase seines Lebens.

Zurück auf der Bühne

Nach seinem Austritt aus dem Kloster im Jahr 2010 kehrte Michael Patrick Kelly zur Musik zurück. 2015 veröffentlichte er das Album „Human“, das bis auf Platz 3 der deutschen Charts stieg. Die gleichnamige Tour war so gut besucht, dass sie ausgeweitet werden musste. Sein drittes Album „Ruah“ folgte schnell und thematisierte seine Erfahrungen aus der Klosterzeit. Die Online Radio-Szene schätzt nach wie vor seine Hits und die neuen Werke, die er kontinuierlich produziert.

Erfolge und Chartplatzierungen

2017 veröffentlichte Kelly das Album „iD“, das ein großer Erfolg wurde. Er trat in der TV-Show „Sing meinen Song“ auf und war Juror bei „The Voice of Germany“, wo sein Teammitglied Samuel Rösch den Sieg errang. Zudem arbeitete er als Co-Autor des international anerkannten Songs „Where Are YOU Now“ von Lost Frequencies und Callum Scott.

Aktuelle Projekte und soziales Engagement

Im November 2021 veröffentlichte Kelly sein fünftes Album „B.O.A.T.S“, das von einem Dokumentarfilm begleitet wurde. Er ist SDG-Botschafter für Frieden und Gerechtigkeit und engagiert sich für Friedensprojekte wie das #PeaceBell-Projekt. Seine Musik und sein Engagement erreichen über Streaming-Dienste und Webradio ein breites Publikum, während er weltweit für soziale Projekte wirbt.
